LEVITATE project: Q&A with SWOVs Wendy Weijermars

In every LEVITATE newsletter a partner is invited to elaborate on their role in the project. This time it’s SWOVs turn. Wendy Weijermars, research manager of the department ‘infrastructure and traffic’, gives a clear explanation about SWOVs role in this project by answering following questions:

  • How do you contribute to LEVITATE and why did you join the project?
  • How do you think LEVITATE will contribute to a safer mobility?
  • What would you mention as biggest risks for the project to deliver what it promised?
  • Do you think, connected and automated vehicles will change the way how we manage mobility nowadays?

About LEVITATE

The European LEVITATE project develops tools to help policy makers prepare for the arrival of Connected & Automated Transport Systems (CATS). The most important output of LEVITATE is an online 'Policy Support Tool' (PST) that provides local authorities with insight into the influence of automated vehicles. This concerns road safety, the environment, the economy and society in the short, medium and long term.

Have a look at LEVITATE’s deliverables and recent paper about steps and results of the traffic simulations in Athens. You’ll find them in the Downloads section.

LEVITATE has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 824361.
