Samenvatting

This paper summarises the findings from two driver response surveys carried out with respect to the London Variable Message Sign (VMS) information system, as part of the European Commission's Telematics Application Fourth Framework Programme (Transport Sector). Detailed analysis of drivers' spatial interpretations of locational information are reported and qualitative comments about the current system and requirements for future information provision are summarised. Drivers' stated propensity to divert in direct response to hypothetical immediate warning information via VMS is also reported. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
