Nicole van Nes appointed professor 'Human Centered Design for Smart Mobility'

Dr Nicole van Nes has been appointed full professor 'Human Centered Design for Smart Mobility' in the department  Human-Centered Design at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology. Her appointment is effective from 1 September 2020.

As a professor, Nicole will focus on research into the design of the interaction between road users and technology in new forms of mobility.

At SWOV, Nicole van Nes is head of the department Human Factors and Vehicle Automation where she coordinates the research into safety in the transition towards autonomous driving. This research examines how road users deal with new technologies, which their own and other vehicles are increasingly equipped with. Furthermore, Nicole is coordinator of the European MEDIATOR project, which focuses on optimal coordination between the human driver and (partially) autonomous vehicle systems.

With this appointment as professor, Delft University of Technology and SWOV join forces in the fields of road safety and new (forms of) mobility.
