2017 was an important year for road safety. The development of the number of road casualties in the Netherlands has been unfavorable for some time - something had to be done. Therefore, it was good to notice that road safety was included in the coalition agreement as a national priority.
The Manifesto on road safety, which SWOV collaborated on with numerous other parties, formed an important basis to achieve this. The same applies to the third edition of the safe system approach, Sustainable Safety – 3rd edition, which was a huge collaborative effort.
Doing research and, together with others, helping to improve road safety with the outcome of this research, is and remains our mission. We have carried out numerous studies in 2017.
