Roadside advertising: ADVERTS

You see them everywhere - alongside motorways, near shopping malls, next to ring roads: roadside billboards. Generally, they are large, have bright colours, and changing messages; sometimes they have moving images. But they always aim to capture the attention of road users.

Commissioned by CEDR, the European Platform for cooperation between National Road Authorities, the Dutch SWOV, the British TRL and the Belgian Vias Institute work together on the development of European recommendations for the design and location of (digital) roadside billboards in order to minimise distraction.

The website cedr-adverts.eu provides more information about ADVERTS. There, you can register to stay informed about the ADVERTS activities and events, including the 11 October 2018 workshop in Brussels about the (draft) recommendations.
