Walk21 Rotterdam

Event date:
07 Oct 2019

Walk21 Rotterdam 2019 takes place from 7 to 10 October. Walk21 is an international foundation aimed at guaranteeing and strengthening a pedestrian-friendly living environment in cities. Rotterdam is working with other cities on this. Example projects from other cities are also programmed during the conference.

Walk21 Rotterdam has received 356 high-quality contributions from 48 countries, leading to an attractive program with around 180 speakers. All sessions are subdivided into three themes: Smart, Healthy and For Everyone.

Walking part of Rotterdam's mobility policy

This international pedestrian congress has been previously organized in Melbourne, Bogota, Vienna and this year is the 20th edition in Rotterdam. Politicians, policy makers, urban planners, administrators and academics from all over the world will come to Maasstad from 7 to 10 October 2019 to share knowledge. Walk21 Rotterdam not only puts the city itself, but also the rest of the Netherlands in the spotlight as an example in terms of livable and attractive urban development. That is why this year the national walking congress is linked to the international pedestrian congress Walk21.

SWOV-expert Gert Jan Wijlhuizen is one of the speakers at Walk21
