9th International Cycling Safety Conference

On November 10-12 the 9th International Cycling Safety Conference will take place online. Main theme is safe cycling as an integral part of the future mobility system: planning and designing for a safe interaction between road users.

The International Cycling Safety Conference ICSC is a forum for researchers and experts in the field of cycling safety to exchange their knowledge and bring up new research topics and safety solutions. In 2020, the conference will meet for the ninth time, hosted by Lund University and the Swedish Cycling Research Centre at the National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI).

The conference will cover the following topics:

  • Causation and prevention of cycling accidents and injuries
  • Safe cycling infrastructure
  • Safe bicycles
  • Motor vehicles safe for cyclists
  • Protective devices to increase cycling safety
  • Safety-related behaviour and attitudes of cyclists and towards cyclists
  • Research methods: observation/ naturalistic studies and cycling simulators
  • Safety of pedelecs and S-pedelecs
  • Education and cycling safety
  • Regulations and standards for safe cycling
  • Planning and policies for safe cycling
  • Safe cycling in the cities of tomorrow
  • Safe interaction between cyclists and connected/automated vehicles
  • Small vehicles for personal mobility (electric scooters, etc.): emerging trends & safety implications
