Govert Schermers, ME, is researcher and project manager and specializes in the fields of, among others, the safe system approach, road design, motorways, 80 and 60 km/h roads, and safe roadsides.

Dr Agnieszka Stelling is an expert in road user behaviour, especially distraction in traffic, behaviour of speed pedelec-riders and the role of auditory information in risk perception. As a psychologist, she is involved in SWOV’s in-depth studies into road traffic crashes.

Dr. Angelique Tinga researches human-technology interaction in autonomous vehicles. Angelique received her master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from Utrecht University and obtained her PhD at Tilburg University on the thesis Assessment of learning through non-invasive neurophysiological measures.

Teun Uijtdewilligen, MSc, is a researcher specialized in cycling, mobility in cities, the use of public space, and urban development. Since 2019 he started his PhD project in road safety for cyclists in Dutch cities. This is a collaboration between SWOV and the University of Twente.

Dr Wendy Weijermars is research manager of the ‘Infrastructure and Traffic’ department and is involved in various research projects in this area. Wendy is also internationally active. She is part of the steering committee of the EU project LEVITATE and coordinates the SWOV activities within this project. 

Dr Gert Jan Wijlhuizen is a specialist in, among others, cycling safety (bicycle infrastructure, behaviour), public health and road safety, the elderly and injury consequences. Gert Jan coordinated several projects in which instruments for safety assessment of road infrastructure – for cyclists and motorized traffic – were developed and applied.

Rins de Zwart, MSc, conducts research into the interaction between humans and intelligent transport systems for both passenger traffic and freight transport.
