Organisation and personnel

Dr. Peter van der Knaap has been SWOV's Managing Director since 1 June 2013. Together with the Board of Supervisors (RvT) he is responsible for the strategy and position of SWOV and ensures that the organization has a solid financial basis.

To guarantee the quality of its research, SWOV uses the input of highly-qualified external experts as members of the Scientific Advisory Board (WAR) and the Program Advisory board (PAR).  SWOV invites experts who are active in various sectors in the field of traffic and road safety as members of these boards.

Staff and work environment

On average, more people were employed in 2017 than in 2016, around 2 FTEs, but by the end of 2017 that number had fallen because some experienced employees left SWOV. In 2017 8 employees left and 4 new employees were recruited. On the reference date 31 December 2017, 55 employees had an employment at SWOV and they were assisted by trainees (in total 16 in 2017).

The employees at SWOV are represented by the SWOV works council.

The organisational chart shows the organisational structure of SWOV on 31 December 2017, and the place in the organisation and responsibilities of all SWOV employees.
