Light railways

Light railways are 'tram-like' trains or 'train-like' trams. A light railway is a railway that is directly linked to a tram on the same rails as a tram or metro line in urban areas. The difference with trains is that before-and-after transport is hardly ever necessary. Light railway vehicles generally make use of both separated railway sections and urban rail infrastructure (existing tram links) with level crossings. The possibility of crashes between city trams and express trams (including the light railway vehicle type) and cyclists and pedestrians is fairly large. The question is whether, and if so how, light railway lines fit in a sustainable-safe traffic system.
