Since 1978, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has been carrying out the National Travel Survey (NTS). The survey’s purpose is to describe the travel behaviour of the Dutch population. It uses a sample of households, and each person within these households is requested to record all journeys made in a particular day.
For each journey, the following is registered:
Already known are, among others: age group, sex, province, vehicle possession, and driving licence.
Mobility data are very important to be able to calculate the exposure (to traffic dangers), expressed as crash rates in crashes per billion kilometres travelled.
