Measures
The possibilities are rather limited at this moment
Too little yet is known about the role emotions play in traffic to begin thinking in terms of measures. With the knowledge that we do have we can indicate a number of directions:
Negative emotions mainly occur in interaction between road users (it's the other's fault):
- The road design can be such that road users hardly ever meet each other or as little as possible.
High temperatures can go together with negative emotions:
- Air conditioning in the car can help prevent negative emotions
Education and information can help making road users aware of the consequences of emotions for driving behaviour. They can also be given suggestions on how to express their emotions in another, safer way.
