Which regulations are there for road works at present?
Safety measures such as protection constructions and closing off roads are used mainly at large scale road works. For brief road works use is often made of just marker posts. Mobile barriers are also sometimes used. The guideline that CROW, the Dutch national information and technology platform for infrastructure, traffic, transport and public space, has drawn up for road works measures focusses on drawing drivers' attention to road works in time and to protect road workers from the traffic. However, these guidelines are not mandatory. On the other hand, the guidelines for the features and road design of road works zones on national roads which the Ministry of Transport drew up in 2005, are mandatory for everybody involved with road works on national roads.
