HUMAN centered design for Information Society Technologies, Virtual Centre of Excellence
Purpose of the network
HUMANIST is a network of European institutes which studies driver reactions to new (vehicle) technologies and the possibilities of so-called Advanced Driver Assistant Systems (ADAS) for support of the driving task. From 2007 onward, HUMANIST has continued independently as a Virtual Centre of Excellence. This means that in addition to meeting in person, knowledge is exchanged via the internet and joint EU proposals are submitted, for example INTERACTION.
SWOV contribution
SWOV researchers have participated in workshops and suchlike on different subjects. Research, particularly on a combination of speed management measures in road design and support inside the vehicle (intelligent speed assistent ISA), was mostly carried out in a postgraduate appointment. SWOV is a (board) member of HUMANIST (VCE).
Duration
From 2003 onward.
