Infrastructure and Safety

Objective of the project
This project investigated how new technologies can make a contribution to a safer infrastructure and improving road safety.

SWOV contribution
SWOV was the leader of workpackage 3: New models, tools and guidelines for Road Safety assessment. Here it was studies in how far road safety can be calculated using traffic models. Special attentention went to dynamic microsimulation models, within which individual vehicles were simulated. SWOV brought forward the safety measures that can be used in the models to estimate the safety level of a simulated network.
