Cognos, the manufacturer of Powerplay is rather slow in making there product working correctly with IE7. If you use IE7, Powerplay won't recognise IE7 and falls back on the generic interface.

There is a work around to get the advanced interface.

Microsoft has a utility  which makes IE7 report itself to the website as being IE6.
This works fine with Powerplay, you get the advanced interface.
It is also quit useful for other sites who don’t recognise IE7.

 

Goto http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9517db9c-3c0d-47fe-bd04-fad82a9aac9f&displaylang=en and install the utility.

 

It will create an icon (User Agent String Utility) on your desktop.
Clicking this icon activates IE7 but it report itself to websites as being IE6.
